IMG Entertainment will distribute a 13-part documentary series, World War II in Colour and HD (13x51', Nugus Martin Productions) bringing it to MIPTV 2009 in time for the 70th anniversary of World War II. Currently in production, this rare collection of unseen footage documents World War II as it's never been seen before. Using the latest colourisation techniques and satellite delivered terrain mapping alongside state of the art graphics, the story can now be told with the most up-to-date access to information not previously available to the older series.
Another highlight of IMG Entertainment's programming catalogue is 'quick turnaround documentary' Miracle Of the Hudson Plane Crash (1x45’,Darlow Smithson Productions for Channel 4) which follows the story of the crash landing and remarkable rescue of US Airways flight 1549 on New York's Hudson River on 15 January 2009.
Miracle Of the Hudson Plane Crash has already made over $500,000 selling to key international territories such as France, Germany and Australia and was watched by an audience of 2.1 million when it debuted on Channel 4 on 19 February 2009.
Other highlights for MIPTV 2009 include critically acclaimed actress Billie Piper’s return as the infamous Belle in the 3rd series of Tiger Aspect Productions’ Secret Diary of a Call Girl (8x22’) distributed by IMG Entertainment.
Format Cook Yourself Thin US, due to transmit on Lifetime this spring, will be available for international distribution this year and launched alongside the US online Cook Yourself Thin diet subscription club.
Also joining the slate is powerful drama Troubled Waters (Tiger Aspect Productions, 2 x 80') staring Naomie Harris (Pirates of the Caribbean) as Alice Omuka. Troubled Waters is about two women and their extraordinary journey deep into the hinterland of the Niger Delta. Both from very different worlds they are brought together by tragedy and forced into danger far away from their comfort zone, where chaos and corruption are rife and they are forced to ask tough questions of themselves in a battle to survive and find the truth.
