FIVB WORLD GRAND PRIX
Synopsis
This annual competition was created in 1993 for national women's teams. Since it began it has rapidly grown in global popularity, particularly in Eastern Asia where the majority of the preliminary round matches are held.
The World Grand Prix is modelled on the successful example of the men's World League. Every year the best 12 women national teams in the world qualify through preliminary rounds and compete for the title. The success of the World Grand Prix attracts the world's strongest teams and highest level of women's Volleyball to the 4 week event. The World Grand Prix has significantly contributed to the rapidly increasing participation and popularity of the women's game.
