SWATCH - FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Synopsis
The FIVB Club Championships is a men's and women's indoor volleyball competition contested between the champion clubs from continental confederations and thus showcases the best men’s and women’s clubs from across the world. Having been recently reinstated, the Championships continue to attract the best and most promising teams, raising the club game onto an international platform.
The male and female teams compete for a share of the $1.3 million prize fund and the right to be crowned champions. Set in the impressive surroundings of the Aspire Dome, it promises to be a dramatic week of exciting competition and athletic display.
Throughout the Championships’ history, Italian and Brazilian teams have traditionally dominated. Nevertheless, since the competition was reinstated other teams have also played a prominent role, namely the Polish Club PGE Skra Bełchatów who won silver in both the 2009 and 2010 competitions.

48 teams selected based on the entry points. Participation criteria: max. 6 host country teams, max. 4 other countries teams, 3 wild cards, continental participation granted.
Format:
Pool play format with single elimination (Main Draw, no qualifying).
1st round: 12 pools x 4 teams. Round Robin.
Final round: From the Round Robin phase the 1st, 2nd and the 8 best 3rd ranked teams of the pools (totalling 32 teams) advance to the single elimination phase.
Ranking:
The loser of a semi-final game will play the bronze medal match final, while the winner of the semi-final games will play the gold medal match final.
Duration: Men's and Women's events are held during the same period. 104 matches make up the event.
