TTR WORLD SNOWBOARDING TOUR
Synopsis
The TTR World Tour is the world's largest men's and women's freestyle snowboarding tour. Now entering its 10th year, the Tour features over 300 events and more than 3,500 riders from the TTR World Ranking lists. Tour events are structured by a "Star" system, ranging from 1Star to 6Star, with the most prestigious 6Star events attracting the biggest names in the sport, competing in events throughout Europe, Asia and America across the three most important freestyle disciplines - Slopestyle, Big Air and Halfpipe.
IMG Media is distributing the 6star events live, in addition to highlights and lifestyle programmes, all available in High Definition (HD). The 6Star events are iconic for showcasing the most exciting riders, who will be preparing for the Winter Olympic games in Sochi following the official inclusion of the Halfpipe and slopestyle disciplines.
The world's best riders, such as world champions Peetu Piroinen and Jamie Anderson, as well as top 10 athletes Sebastien Toutant and Kelly Clark, all compete to claim the most respected titles in snowboarding. The 2011-12 TTR season will see riders competing for victory in the 3 individual disciplines and the overall tour winners will get their share of the $2.5 million prize fund.
Last season was jammed packed full of action around the world with a starting point in Whistler in North America, taking a turn down to New Zealand for the Southern Hemisphere season, made a stop in Beijing, China, headed to Europe for an intense run then ended up back in North America finishing up at the old faithful Burton US Open. Many younger riders were on the come-up in the 2010/11 season and were dominating podiums everywhere they went. Guys like Sebastien Toutant (CAN), Eric Willett (USA), Seppe Smits (BEL), Sage Kotsenberg (USA) and Mark McMorris (CAN) were showing up at every slopestyle and big air event they could and were going for broke landing technical mind-bending versions of double-cork tricks.
The jack-of-all-trades, Mr. Peetu Piiroinen, gave the guys a run for their money with podiums across the board in big air, slopestyle and halfpipe to take down his third-straight TTR World Tour Champion title of his career. The women’s side of the tour was also nail-biter with Kelly Clark (USA) winning just about every single halfpipe competition she entered in the 2010/11 season. But, she had to deal with the versatility of Jamie Anderson’s (USA) skills who is a master on the slopestyle course and also drop into the pipe. Jamie finally clinched her second TTR World Tour Champion title of her career at the 6Star US Open.
