The Scottish Premier League is Scotland’s leading sporting competition, generating unrivalled passion and interest across the nation. Formed in 1998, the league currently has 12 member clubs spanning the length and breadth of the country.

The Edinburgh derby between Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian is another eagerly-awaited fixture, the likes of Aberdeen and Dundee United have a rich pedigree in Europe, while Celtic and Rangers have both reached European finals since the SPL was established in 1998. 

The Scottish Premier League has featured a number of world famous players, including Brian Laudrup, Claudio Caniggia, Fabrizio Ravanelli, Frank and Ronald de Boer, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Henrik Larsson, Ian Wright, Juninho, Mark Viduka and Mikel Arteta .  Alex McLeish, Dick Advocaat, Gordon Strachan , Martin O’Neil and Terry Butcher have all managed SPL sides.
